In one day, EPXC teams will be heading down the valley to Monfort Park in Greeley for the 3A Region 4 cross country meet. This meet is the most important of the season because it determines which teams and individuals qualify to run at the CHSAA State Meet on October 29th in Colorado Springs.

Essentially, there are two way to make it to the state meet; 1. Either a team needs to finish in the top 4, or, 2. An individual needs to finish in the top 15. While EPXC has some individuals capable of qualifying on their own, the true goal for EPXC will be to qualify two teams again this year.

The focus with the team since league has been to prepare for the regional meet. We have already begun the taper for the season with the intention of getting EPXC runners to the starting line on Thursday ready to run their best races of the season. Shorter runs and shorter practices mean that the athlete will be getting home sooner (unless they're in the play) and we discussed the importance of getting school work done early and getting adequate sleep these next few nights. This is the point in the season that the rest of the season has been building up to, but none of that preparation will matter if our runners are not well rested, well hydrated, well nourished, and focused for the next two days.

EPXC has worked hard all season, with many training since May; we're excited to see all that effort pay off on Thursday!
