Thank you to everyone who came out to support the EPXC team today at the Long's Peak XC Invite. We'd especially like to thank all of the EPXC parents and Estes Park community volunteers who made the meet possible by serving as course marshals, biking the course, running the concession stand, providing medical services, and setting up/ tearing down the course markings. EPXC's first home meet in 8 years was undoubtedly a success, and we could not have done it without all of your help. 

As coaches, we were also excited to watch some excellent performances from the runners yesterday. The hard work that this team has put in over the past 2+ months of summer training was apparent in EPXC athletes' performances today and we can't wait to see where that strong mileage base will take the team this season. 

A spot on the varsity roster is something that each runner needs to earn and we hope that earning a spot in the top seven will motivate runners to push their own limits throughout the season. A spot on yesterday's varsity roster was earned by consistently training this summer; all future roster spots will be earned by perfect season practice attendance and by the times run in races. This Friday we will be taking the top seven fastest boy and girl runners from yesterday's race to the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede in Colorado Springs. Friday's varsity roster will be discussed at practice today. We hope that as the season progresses our top seven will remain in flux and attaining a varsity spot will remain a goal for all runners. 

The first week of the school year is inevitably a bit chaotic, below are a few important upcoming events for runners and parents. 

Tuesday 8/23 (6:00pm)  -  Fall Sports Parent Meeting

This evening is the fall sports parent meeting. Our Athletic Director will be giving a short overview of EPHS athletic policies, then we'll break into sport specific meetings. The EPXC Fall presentation should last no more than 45minutes where we'll cover a variety of topics. Please attend if you are able, and bring your calendars as we will be signing up for team dinners and the snack bin. 

Tuesday-Thursday 8/23-8/25 (3:40-6:00pm)  -  XC Practice

Today we will resume the normal schedule of practice which will begin at 3:40pm in the track shed and will conclude no later than 6:00pm. Athletes should be in the 'Shed' and ready to run by 3:40. 

Thursday 8/25 (5:30-7:00pm)  -  Team Dinner

Our first team dinner of the season will be hosted at Coach Harris house following practice on Thursday. Throughout the season their will be a team dinner each night prior to a meet, hosted each time at a different athlete's home. We will have the sign up calendar for all other team dinners during the parent meeting this evening. 

Friday 8/26 (8:00am-5:00pm)  -   Cheyenne Mountain Stampede

On Friday we will be taking the varsity roster to the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede in Colorado Springs. This race is run on the CHSAA state meet course, and provides runners with a good preview/reminder of what to expect on October 29th. We will be sending out more information including the race schedule for this meet later this week. Practice for all athletes not attending the meet will begin promptly at 6:30am on Friday morning.
