The Bobcats cross country team (EPXC) started off the official competitive season this past Friday at the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede. This course is the same one that hosts the CHSAA state meet and many of the teams that we raced with Friday are the same ones that we will be competing with on October 29th.

We could not be happier with our athletes' performances from the first scored meet of the season in which all 14 of our athletes improved their times from the Longs Peak Invite and many improved on past performances at this course from last year.

The girls team ran first at 11:30am and placed 7th as a team. Of our three athletes who have run this course before, Lily bested her 2015 State time by 1 second, Skylar beat her 2015 CMS time by 1:05, and Carlie improved on her 2015 state performance by 16 seconds!

The boys team ran at 1:30pm and placed 5th as a team. Three of our male athletes also bested past performances on this course. Dylan took 17seconds of his 2015 CMS time, Finn beat his 2015 state time by 30 seconds, and Mason improved his 2015 state time by 10 seconds!

For our other 8 boys and girls who have not run this course before; this race provided valuable experience on the state course, an opportunity to race with other top 3A teams, and set a point for comparison with future races on this course.

Upcoming Events:

Monday 6:30am @ Aquatic Center

EPXC Team Aqua Jogging Practice begins tomorrow morning and will continue every Monday morning through September. These practices are not mandatory but will provide valuable low impact cardio training, which allows athletes to add volume to their weekly workout schedule without added stress on their legs. Practices are from 6:30-7:30am.

Thursday 5:30-7:00pm @ The Zurfluh's Home

Our second team dinner of the season will be hosted by the Zurfluhs following practice on Thursday evening; more info later this week.

Friday 4:00-7:00pm @ Hughes Stadium, Fort Collins

Our next meet is the CSU/ Frontier Academy Invite this Friday at Hughes Field in Fort Collins. We will be taking a full girls and boys varsity (10 athletes) and JV (unlimited athletes) roster down to this meet. Following the meet there will be a Male and Female collegiate race which we will be staying to watch. More specifics about his meet, the roster, and meet sheets will be sent out later this week.

Saturday 5:00-6:00pm @ EPHS Commons

There will be a meeting for all parents of athletes interested in racing in the Nike Southwest Regional XC meet in Casa Grande, AZ this fall. The main objective of the meeting will be to purchase flights for the meet before prices go up. This meet is held after the regular XC season on 11/19 and is open to all EPXC athletes.

Let's have a great week of running!!
