Please read thoroughly below for a recap of this past week and what in store for this upcoming week.

Longs Peak Invite Meet Recap:

The first annual Longs Peak Invitational was largely a success, and for the most part, free of any hiccups you might expect from an inaugural race. The meet hosted 9 schools (a majority of which were 4A & 5A), a total of 200 athletes, and ran 4 race sections on the course. The initial course records were set this weekend and currently stand at 17:21 for boys and 20:02 for girls. After speaking with other teams and coaches following the race, it sounded like everyone enjoyed the race and visiting Estes Park and we only expect this race to grow in future years.  Our Estes Park XC teams had some great performances at their home meet this weekend as well.

The EPXC Boys team ran first and placed 4th overall behind one 3A and two 5A schools. The Boys were led by top 20 finishes from Nathan (7th), Lucas (16th), and Mason (20th). Several boys team members also set new PR's including Nathan (-7s), Oliver (-1:01), and Ian (-55s).

Our EPXC Girls team ran next, they also placed 4th overall but were the top finishing 3A school, finishing behind two 5A and a 4A school. The girls were led by top 20 finishes from Mae (9th), Annalise (10th), and Charly (12th). Melia finished 3rd overall in the JV race and EPXC also saw a new PR's set by Julia (-22s).

We are looking forward to improving on these already fast times when EPXC hosts the Patriot League meet on our home course again this weekend.

THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who helped out with the race this weekend, and a special thanks to John Fridrich for coordinating our volunteer efforts.

We'd also like to thank the Harroff, Daley, and Tierney families for hosting an excellent team dinner and for filling the snack box.

Next Race - Patriot League Meet (10/7):

Estes Park Cross Country's next race is the Patriot League Championship meet on Saturday, October 7th. EPXC will be hosting the meet again this week on the same course as the Longs Peak Invitational. There will only be 2 race sections for this meet: 1 boys and 1 girls varsity race with unlimited entries. This means that all our runners gets to compete at the same time and every runner is a potential scorer for our team. Please see the meet information sheet below for more details including time schedule and course map.

 Patriot League Information Sheet 2017

There is no school on Friday but EPXC will meet for practice at the 9-hole golf course at 3pm. The team will do a pre-meet run, set up the course markings, and then drive over to the team dinner. Coach Harris will be hosting the team dinner at 446 Elm Ave.

Patriot League Meet Volunteers (10/7):

Again, we need as many volunteers as possible for the league meet on Saturday. If you are available, please consider helping out with this event. Primarily, we will need course marshals positioned throughout the course to point runners in the correct direction. We will not have a volunteer meeting for this race, however, if you'd like to be a volunteer, please plan to meet outside of the 9-hole Pro-shop at 9am on Saturday morning.

Team Shirts/ Parent T-Shirts:

Athletes, if you have not done so already, please bring your $8 for the team shirt to practice by the end of this week.

If you ordered a parent shirt, they are done and ready for pick-up. If you still want a parent shirt, we have ordered a few extras in various sizes, so let us know. These shirts will be $10 each.

Team Photos Rescheduled (10/11):

EPXC's team photos has been rescheduled for October 11th at 5pm. Athletes received a photo order form 2 weeks ago but Coach Harris has extras if anyone still needs one.

Lastly, we have just finished our hardest week of training but we still have 4 weeks left in the season. This means that things will begin to get easier from here on out but there will not be a big drop off in training volume or intensity until we approach the regional and state meets. The goal is to get our runners to the line at Regionals and State ready to run their best races of the season. Please help ensure that our athletes are doing all the right things to get them to the starting line of these last three races as well rested, hydrated, and motivated as possible.

Looking forward to another great week.
