CHSAA State Meet Recap:

The CHSAA State Meet was this past Saturday and with that, we have officially reached the end of the 2017 Estes Park Cross Country season. EPXC had athletes competing in two races, Nathan as an individual qualifier in the boys 3A race and the EPXC girls team in the 3A girls race.

Nathan was our first athlete to compete on Saturday, in which he finished in 17:21 (a -1:49 improvement on this course) and placed 31st overall (out of 912 3A runners in CO). This was a great race for Nathan, particularly when you consider that it's his 1st cross country season.

The Estes Park XC girls ran in the final race of the day and placed 17th (out of 71 XC teams in 3A). The team also finished ahead of Brush and Berthoud, both which are teams that finished ahead of us at the regional race. The girls were led by Charly who ran another big PR of 21:26 (-26s), placed 82nd overall, and she was among the top 25 freshmen in 3A. Close behind Charly was Annalise who ran 21:37, finished in 91st, and ran a -1:14 course improvement. Zoe was our third, finishing in 115th with a time of 22:30 which was a -3:17 course improvement for her. Mae came in next with a time of 22:32 which is a -1:42 course improvement and she placed 117th. Eva was our final scoring runner, she ran 23:50 which was a -20s PR and she placed 137th overall. Andra and Melia ran the whole race in close contact and finished 146th and 147th. This was Andra's final EPXC race and we are glad that she was able to be a part of the state team this year. It was a great weekend for the EPXC team and a great way to end the 2017 season.

Lastly, a special ‘Thank You’ to all of the parents who helped make this another great state meet experience. We’d especially like to thank Mary Zurfluh for decorating lockers, hallways and state bus, putting together goodie bags, and donating a new team snack box. We’d also like to thank the Igels for buying the team's state meet dinner, Erin Tice for making signs, and the Harroffs for their support. We also really appreciated all of the teammates, parents, alumni, and fans who made the trip down to watch the race and support the EPXC team.
