WOW, the summer is really rollin’ as Estes Park Cross Country is heading into its 7th week of training. Both coaches are very impressed with the work that has been put in over these 7 weeks and looking for continuing the consistent running. For those runners that have yet to make it out, there is still PLENTY of time as all of these runs are casual and are the foundation to the 2017 XC season. Make every effort to attend these practices…they will be the difference come August!
Also, please continue logging miles as Coach Harris will be asking REAL soon for the log books.
Here is the upcoming week, please read carefully below:
Monday - O.Y.O (On Your Own) run. Please coordinate amongst your teammates to get out for some easy miles. We recommend anywhere from the 3 to 6 mile range.
Tuesday - Stanley Run @ 5:30PM (meet at Steamers Cafe). Choose from 3, 4, 5 or 6 low-key/easy effort miles AND stick around afterwards for a FREE delicious pasta dinner served by the Stanley staff. Excellent post run replenishment.
Wednesday – Wild Basin Trail (Sandbeach Lake) @ 6:30AM. EPXC will be in the Allenspark park area for this awesome trail run. Please plan on meeting at the 1st Wild Basin Entrance Station (the one closest to the Wild Basin Lodge & Event Center). Sandbeach Lake is located 4.4 miles from the Wild Basin Entrance and it’s one of RMNP’s deepest lakes at nearly 50'. Aptly named for its wide, sandy shore, Sandbeach Lake is ringed by gnarled limber pine in a broad flat free of confining valley walls, and its open perimeter gives the area a uniquely spacious feel. As always, pancakes served afterwards.
Thursday – Cinnamon’s Bakery @ 6:30AM. EPXC will meet in the parking lot and do a steady uphill along Fall River Rd. then turn and enjoy not only the great views but the downhill all the way back. Bring some $$ for afterwards. Although Cinnamon's has a small menu, they offer four types of delicious cinnamon rolls: a classic (with icing on the side, if that's your preference), sticky pecan rolls, raisin-filled, and fruit-filled.
Friday - O.Y.O (On Your Own) run. Please coordinate amongst your teammates to get out for some easy miles. We recommend anywhere from the 3 to 6 mile range.
Saturday - RMNP Team Trail Marathon Relay @ 7:00AM. On Saturday, July 22nd, the Estes Park Cross Country Team will be running the 1st Annual RMNP Team Trail Marathon Relay. This will be a 26.2 mile full trail marathon across Rocky Mountain National Park from Cow Creek to Bear Lake. Teams will run the marathon in 8 segments which are 3-6 miles each and teams will drive between handoffs. There will be a BBQ grill out in the Bear Lake parking lot following the run.
***MORE DETAILS WILL BE PROVIDED BY COACH HARRIS LATER THIS WEEK OF THE TRAIL MARATHON***
Here's to another awesome week ahead! Happy Running and GO BOBCATS!
