There were a lot of adventures this past week/weekend with the EPXC team. On Saturday, there was both the Run Like the Wind 5K in Allenspark and the 1st Annual RMNP Team Trail Marathon. Also, rumor has it, that some runners decided to summit Longs Peak on Tuesday, and Wednesday runners were jumping into Sandbeach Lake. WOW!

In the Run Like the Wind 5K, senior Finn Tierney took 2nd O.A., recent EPHS graduate Harrison Daley finish 4th O.A. and Coach Stafford snagged 5th O.A. Also on Saturday, inside Rocky Mountain National Park, Coach Harris and EPXC parents participated in what’s to be an annual summer tradition for a team relay of 26.2 miles of beautiful trails. The weather held up nicely and everyone was treated to a spectacular post-race BBQ at Endo-Valley. Rumor here has it a parent or two did the WHOLE thing SOLO! Another WOW!!

Nice work to everyone who put in the miles this past weekend. Now on to Week #8. Please NOTE that we are officially one-month out from the first week of school which means the cross-country season is ALMOST HERE! Continue logging miles and if your running has been a little sporadic this summer, there is still time to get some consistency.

Below is the upcoming week, please read carefully below:

Monday - O.Y.O (On Your Own) run. Please coordinate amongst your teammates to get out for some easy miles. We recommend anywhere from the 3 to 6 mile range.

Tuesday - Stanley Run @ 5:30PM (meet at Steamers Cafe). Choose from 3, 4, 5 or 6 low-key/easy effort miles AND stick around afterwards for a FREE delicious pasta dinner served by the Stanley staff. Excellent post run replenishment.

Wednesday – Lumpy Ridge Loop @ 6:30AM. This is one of many summer traditions that EPXC has started. Parking at the Lumpy Ridge Trailhead, we’ll headed up to Gem Lake, go on the backside to Cow Creek, climb up to McGregor Mtn. junction and head back on the valley floor. Sounds easy, right? Don’t be fooled, this is a tough BUT fun run where true team building occurs. Bring your hydration pack and snacks for along the way. As always, pancakes served afterwards.

Thursday – Donut Haus @ 6:30AM. EPXC will meet in the parking lot across the street at Piccadilly Square and run the Peakview Loop. Afterwards, we’ll hit the Donut Haus for THE best donuts in town! This is definitely a favorite stop for both locals and out-of-towers!

Also for Thursday, the Bobcat Boosters Club and All-American Sports will be having a photo shoot for all EPHS athletes. EPXC has been slotted for the 5PM time and uniforms will be handed out beforehand. Please plan to meet outside the weight room around 4:45PM to get a uniform. These photos will be used for senior banners and team posters.
