The first week of the school year and the second week of the fall XC season is in the books. The team is looking strong and we are excited to see all of these runners continue to get stronger throughout the season. Here's a quick recap of last week and preview of the upcoming week.

CMS Meet Recap:

On Friday, EPXC took a team of 12 (6 boys, 6 girls) down to Colorado Springs for the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede XC Invitational. This race is run on the same course as the state meet, so it was a great opportunity for our athletes to preview the course that they'll be racing on again on October 28th. Our girls ran first and placed 10th as a team. The girls were led by a good performance from Annalise Basch (45th, 24:56) and the 5 behind here pushed the pace as well. This was also the first ever high school race for Charly Raymond and Eva Stein. The boys ran in the afternoon and placed 9th as a team. The boys were led by Finn Tierney (9th, 17:58) who was the first Estes Park male to make the podium at this race in recent memory. The next 5 ran well including a first ever XC race by Nathan Zurfluh who placed 2nd on the EPXC roster. Regardless of time and place, we are very pleased with Friday's performance from all of our runners. It's a starting point for the season and hopefully we only improve from here.

This Week (Important Dates):

  • Monday - Wednesday: Normal Practice (3:30-5:30)
  • Thursday: Practice followed by team dinner at the Moreau's Home.
  • Friday: CSU Frontier Invitational at Hughes Stadium in Fort Collins. More details later this week.

Team Dinners:

We'd like to thank the Ginter family for hosting us at their home for team dinner this past Thursday, the food was excellent! We'd also like to thank the Ginter and Tice families for filing the snack box for Friday's race. This weeks team dinner will be hosted on Thursday night by the Moreau's, more details later this week. *Please NOTE that we are still looking for a host for the team dinner before the Regional meet on the evening of Wednesday October 18th, please let us know if you are interested in hosting.

Girls Team Shorts:

As I mentioned at the parent meeting, we have decided to have the girls team order new spandex race shorts to be worn as part of the official uniform for this season. The current shorts are wearing out quickly and need to be replaced, but we are not scheduled for new uniforms until next season. The shorts are plain black New Balance brand and cost $28.95. We have ordered a pair in three sizes for the girls team to try on this week and we'd like to place an order for everyone by Tuesday. The girls will be able to keep the shorts and use them as normal running spandex following this season. Please let us know if you have any concerns about purchasing these shorts, we can find money in the budget for individuals if there are monetary concerns.

A reminder from the Booster's Club:

Senior Banners - If your senior athlete did not participate in the professional photo shoot in August, please submit a high resolution athletic pic of your athlete to Danielle at bacers.vicepresident@gmail.com

Banners will be ordered the first week of September, November, and March.
