As EPXC enters August, the summer is drawing to an end with the cross-country season quickly approaching. From now through mid-November, EPXC’s calendar is jam-packed with races, practices, events, etc. on a weekly basis. We encourage everyone to check out our team calendar frequently for these important dates.
Below is the upcoming week, please read carefully below:
Monday - O.Y.O (On Your Own) run. Please coordinate amongst your teammates to get out for some easy miles. We recommend anywhere from the 3 to 6 mile range.
Tuesday - Stanley Run @ 5:30PM (meet at Steamers Cafe). This will be the last Tuesday evening Stanley Run of the summer. Choose from 3, 4, 5 or 6 low-key/easy effort miles AND stick around afterwards for a FREE delicious pasta dinner served by the Stanley staff. Excellent post run replenishment.
Wednesday – Longs Peak Trail to Chasm Lake @ 6:30AM. EPXC will meet at the Longs Peak Trailhead. Chasm Lake is located 4.2 miles (8.4miles round-trip) from the Longs Peak Trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park. The trail climbs steadily from the Longs Peak Ranger Station (2,456ft. of total elevation gain) through lodgepole, spruce and fir. At Chasm Lake, are large boulders with an uneven talus which rings the lake, requiring some minor scrambling to the best viewpoint. AND, rumor has it that EPXC created a tradition of jumping in the lake marking the end of summer…BE THERE to find out. As always, pancakes served afterwards.
Please also note that this Wednesday is high school registration. Freshman & Sophomores are from 8 to 12 and Juniors and Seniors are from 1 to 3.
Thursday – Mountain Home Cafe @ 6:30AM. EPXC will meet in the parking lot and do the Black Canyon Loop. Afterwards, we will treat ourselves to this breakfast and lunch eatery in the heart of Estes Park, which serves up some serious delicious meals. Please bring some $$ for breakfast.

OR, participate in the inaugural Rocky Mountain 5K! The race will be on Friday, August 11 at 6:30PM, the evening before the half marathon. Runners can register here: https://runsignup.com/Race/CO/EstesPark/RockyMountainHalfMarathon
Saturday – EPXC’s biggest fundraiser of the summer, the Rock Mountain Half Marathon @ 5:00AM - ~10:00AM. The Estes Park Cross Country is the sole responsible team for all aid stations on the course. We need EVERYONE to volunteer! Coach Harris will be sending an important email with details for this event.
