Regional Meet Recap:
Both EPXC teams ran extremely well this Thursday at the 3A Region 4 meet! The EPXC girls finished in 3rd…just 3 points behind 2nd place Liberty Common. The girls had a cumulative -3:37 in PRs at this race alone and 3 runners (Annalise, Charly, & Nathan) earned All-Region recognition. On the boys side, we knew that it would be a 3-way race for fourth place and a state qualification; unfortunately, we lost out to both Liberty Common and Resurrection Christian. While this result may have been disheartening for the boys, we could not be more proud of the way that this team ran. Our boys team ran exceedingly well and took a combined -5:16 off of their PRs; an incredible improvement at this stage in the season. Our hope is that the returning boys will commit themselves to train over the next year so that we can qualify next year. The EPXC girls team and Nathan (individual qualifier) will compete at the CHSAA State XC meet next Saturday.

Pictures from the Season:
If you have any pictures from the season that have not already been shared with either coaches or uploaded on the team Facebook page, please upload them to this google drive folder. We are working on the banquet presentation and would like to have at least one good photo of each athlete. We’d also like to get 4 photos of each 4-year varsity athlete (ideally one from each year on the team) for their senior frames.
2018 EPXC Team Banquet:
Please mark your calendars, EPXC’s team banquet will be on Tuesday, October 30th at 5PM in the Estes Park Community Center. Dinner will be catered by Jubilations Catering and will be free for athletes. It will be $14 per plate for family members plus anyone else who wishes to attend. Please RSVP for the banquet with this link before Friday 10/26 so that we can plan to have enough food for everyone.
Nike XC Southwest Regional:
The Nike SW Regional Meet will be held in Casa Grande, AZ on 11/17. This is a race that brings top teams and individuals from Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada together for one of the most competitive XC races in the country. It is also a qualifying race for the Nike National XC Championship Meet. EPXC has sent individuals and teams to this race in the past and it has been a great experience for our runners to compete against some of their top peers and teams in the country.
Two of the biggest factors that have kept us from making this meet a yearly part of our schedule is cost and distance. We estimate that the race will cost between $360 (drive) and $530 (fly) per person if we send 10 runners and 2 chaperones, and slightly more if we send fewer runners. It will also be a 3.5-day time commitment, from the afternoon of 11/15 to the evening of 11/18. Below is a breakdown of the estimated cost per person.
Cost Per Athlete Estimate: Fly = $530/ Drive = $360
*or Transit Van Rental + Mileage & Gas: $100
Race Entry: $35
*This will also all depend on how many athletes we take to the meet.
Please talk to your parents/athletes and email Coach Harris (firstname.lastname@example.org) by the end of the weekend if you think you/your athlete would be interested in attending this meet. If we have significant interest, the coaches would like to meet and discuss specific plans this Thursday and make reservations within the next 2 weeks.
Looking forward to a great final week of the 2018 season!
