Chase’s Story

Chase has been participating in cross country since middle school and has been active in other activities during his middle & high school career. Last cross country season, he and his identical twin brother, Cole, finished the very last race of their freshman year with their fastest 5K ever…literally 1 SECOND apart; can’t get any more identical than that. During this past summer leading into their sophomore year, Chase, along with his fellow EPXC teammates had been running trails & roads all above 7500ft. up to 10,000ft. in and around Estes Park. Chase was putting in some serious summer mileage to gear up for crushing his freshman best time. However, Chase was not progressing in his fitness like his brother, Cole. He was easily tired, throwing up almost once a week, having a hard time breathing and struggled keeping up. Although, without fail after running, Chase always felt fine and would put in a full day of work at Ride-A-Kart.

After concern from his mother, Kelly Murray and coaches, it was decided to take him to the doctor as everyone thought it may be mono. Chase’s bloodwork was taken at the Estes Park Medical Center (on August 16, 2018) and it turned out his bone morrow count was extremely low. Chase and his mother drove to Rocky Mountain Children’s Hospital in Denver and after more bloodwork, a biopsy on his marrow, excruciatingly long waiting hours for news, it turned out Chase had been diagnosed with leukemia. Over the next 5 days at Children’s Hospital, Chase started his first round of chemotherapy.

We are asking to help and share with others. Kelly will not be able to work as she helps Chase fight the battle of his life. She is a single parent of 4 boys and any donations to help her are greatly appreciated.

Kelly plans to regularly update Chase's progress through Caring Bridge at the follow LINK. They would appreciate the well wishes, kindness, love, prayers and support. Let’s join the fight with Chase and SEND IT!!
